One Percent

One of my favorite ideas, especially when I think of personal growth and personal development, is the concept of just getting 1% better each day and being patient while the results compound over time.

To make progress on certain things and to keep it simple enough to actually make a daily effort, I usually just think about the fact that 1% of a day is 14 minutes and 24 seconds. Then I round up to 15 minutes.

My current examples of this approach include my daily time for reading and for listening to audiobooks. By investing just 15 minutes in taking in new ideas and new information, I am giving myself the raw building blocks of new ideas, new connections, new innovations, new strategies, new tactics, etc.

And over time, the results should quietly compound and be expressed in ways I can’t even imagine at this time.
